![]() Mandy was in the DJ booth, wearing a high-collared space age gown that looked like something out of The Fifth Element. “I love it when you get adventurous.”Īlex shook his head and kept walking. “Oh, please do,” Sunder purred, letting him go. “Can I at least explore a little before you become my hat?” he asked. And he wanted to, just not as Sunder’s pet human for the evening. ![]() “I’m not about to let you leave before the festivities start.”Īlex sagged, knowing he had no choice but to stay. ![]() “Oh no you don’t.” Sunder caught him from behind and reeled him in for a hug. “I can go home,” Alex said, taking his hand back and turning toward the door. “Delicious,” Sunder declared, showing a bit of fang. Alex had felt self-conscious about his belly, because the shirt was translucent, so he’d bound his torso in shiny black duct tape he’d found at the craft store, molding a kind of home-made corset. Alex had found a black chiffon shirt at the flea market two weeks ago, and paired it with black jeans and platform boots he’d borrowed from Samantha. “Look at you.” He took Alex’s hand and made him do a twirl so Sunder could take in his whole look. He hadn’t come here to donate blood tonight. “You’re looking particularly tasty tonight.”Īlex made a face. “Hey, cutie,” Sunder accosted him not two yards from the door. He made a note not to sit on any of it without checking for ghosts first.Īs he entered the club, Bauhaus was playing, predictably. There was also antique-looking furniture pushed to the edges of the dance floor that Alex was 99% sure had been borrowed from Blair Mansion. “Maybe so.”Ī month later found La Rosa covered in cobwebs and homemade bats, with a fog machine pumping out dry ice smoke to make the atmosphere just right. “Because the scene is so small these days.” “Yeah, but goths will travel for a good theme night,” Alex pointed out. “What’s left of that scene is mostly down in L.A.” He could think of three without even trying. “What can I say? There aren’t a lot of goths in town.” Alex found that hard to believe. “A dance club owned by vampires and you don’t have Goth Night at least once a week?” “What, are you kidding?” Alex turned around to look at him. “You know, we haven’t had a goth night at the club in a long time,” Sunder said, thoughtful. Sunder’s real self seemed to be a giant dork with a goofy laugh, and Alex liked the rare moments where he got to see it. Sunder giggled-a strange sound coming from someone who tried so hard to be serious and sexy all the time-and sauntered back to the couch. And you know what I meant.” He gently hip-checked the vampire, trying to get more space to work. “Soon-er is less patient, not necessarily better. “Are you thinking of driving hard wood into my body? Because my answer will always be yes, please. “Oh?” Sunder slid up behind Alex as he prepped dinner on the kitchen counter. ![]() “But you’re wrong.” He hadn’t found a way to talk to Olivia about it since that night, but she’d definitely been intent on doing away with Sunder at the time. “I don’t know what that means,” Alex said. “No one would dream of staking me after they get up close and personal with my fangs.” “The one night you can just let your fangs hang out without worrying about getting staked for it.” “You must really enjoy goth nights at the club,” he’d said. Then again, Alex had recently mentioned it to Sunder when they were hanging out. He supposed it was lucky he’d found himself in town for one of the off-season ones. Alex was surprised to learn they only held goth nights a few times a year, mostly around Halloween.
